Make Progress: Keep Going with Grace

By Rev Dunamis Okunowo · Sunday, 4 October 2026 · 3 min read

Grace helps us keep going. There are seasons when progress feels slow and the next step is not obvious. The message from Shouts of Grace Center reminds us that maturity includes endurance. A seed does not become a tree in one afternoon, and a faithful life is not built by one emotional experience.

Grace does not mean that effort is unnecessary. Grace gives us strength to continue, wisdom to adjust and forgiveness when we fail. We can repent without giving up. We can learn from a mistake without allowing shame to define us. Every return to obedience is evidence that God is still working.

Keep your focus on the next faithful step. Do not carry the pressure of finishing the whole journey today. Pray today, study today, serve today and make the honest decision in front of you today. Tomorrow will bring its own grace.

Endurance becomes easier when our priorities are clear. Keep close to the Word, protect your prayer life and stay connected to people who encourage faith. Share your burdens with mature believers, receive correction and encourage somebody else. Isolation magnifies discouragement, while healthy fellowship reminds us that we are not walking alone.

Do not interpret a difficult season as proof that God has abandoned you. Sometimes the slow season is where roots grow deepest. God may be forming patience, wisdom, compassion and strength that will support a future assignment. Ask what He is teaching rather than only asking when the difficulty will end.

This week, identify one thing you started but have been tempted to abandon. Bring it before God and decide whether you need to continue, adjust or release it. If it is a faithful assignment, take one small step today. Put the date on your calendar and invite someone trustworthy to encourage you.

Progress is not perfection. It is continuing with God, learning from each season and refusing to give up. You may need to begin again many times, but beginning again is still movement in the direction of grace.

Prayer: Father, strengthen me to keep going. When I am tired, renew me. When I fall, teach me to rise. Help me trust Your grace and remain faithful until the work You began in me is complete. Amen.

Sometimes the next step is simply to remain faithful in an ordinary place. Keep loving your family, keep serving your church, keep learning your craft and keep speaking words that give life. The world often celebrates sudden breakthroughs, but God values the daily faithfulness that makes a breakthrough safe to carry.

When discouragement speaks, answer it with truth. You are not behind God’s schedule because your process is taking time. You are being formed. Ask for help when you need it, rest when you are exhausted and return to obedience when you have wandered. Rest is not quitting, and a slower pace is not failure when you are still walking in the right direction.

Review your week with gratitude. Write down where you saw grace, where you learned something and where you need to try again. This simple reflection turns experience into wisdom and helps you enter the next week with renewed focus. Grace is available for the work in front of you.
